 About the Canadian Telehealth Forum (CTF)

The Canadian Telehealth Forum (CTF) Forum brings together the many stakeholders involved and interested in furthering the development and implementation of telehealth practices. It acts as a major resource for information and knowledge sharing, contributes to telehealth policy and standards development, and through COACH is the Canadian voice for telehealth both nationally and internationally.

Purpose

CTF's purpose is to promote the adoption and practice of telehealth within the Canadian health system with the aim of achieving improved (optimal) health, healthcare and equity. CTF provides a forum for professional development, knowledge development, exchange, and engagement with diverse communities, both national and international, on telehealth.

Mission

The Canadian Telehealth Forum's mission is to promote the transformation of healthcare delivery through the use of information and telecommunications technologies by providing a forum for advocacy, communication and sharing of resources among communities of interest.

Objectives

  • To serve as a forum for the collection, exchange and dissemination of information related to telehealth;
  • To work, cooperate, liaise with other organizations, institutions, governments, governmental organizations, individuals, societies and corporations involved or concerned with the development and implementation of telehealth activities, health care and health care services and to encourage cooperation among them;
  • To assist in the education of individuals, organizations, corporations and society with respect to telehealth;
  • To promote the advancement of telehealth opportunities, technologies and their application for the benefit of Canadians and others;
  • To promote and encourage the use of telecommunications and related technologies in the delivery of health care and health education;
  • To promote the use of telehealth in order to improve the health care system, assist in the improvement of access to health care delivery and to benefit the participants in the health care system;
  • To encourage telehealth research.
